This route heads south from Duns towards Swinton. From here sections of the route follow very quiet, winding country lanes. At Charterhall the route heads north and crosses the Blackadder Water at Fogo Bridge. After this the route is something of a rollercoaster with some short steep sections before arriving in Gavinton. There is a footbridge crossing before heading back towards Duns.
