This is a big loop to the north of Duns. After passing Edrom the Whiteadder Water is crossed at Todheugh. The road rises gradually to Lintlaw then descends to Lintlaw Burn before a long climb towards Blackhouse. Once the summit has been reached in a small wood, the route to Grantshouse is easy going. Just before Grantshouse turn right as you head towards Abbey St. Bathans with a few steep climbs along the way. Leaving Abbey St. Bathans there is a long climb away from the river and from this summit a steep descent to the junction at Burnhouses before travelling back towards Duns.
